Three N.C. schools on lockdown after possible shooting

Bearfield Primary, Ahoskie Elementary and Hertford County High School were placed on lock-down around 2 p.m. after a reported shooting in a nearby neighborhood.

AHOSKIE, N.C. -- Three schools were on lockdown Tuesday following a possible shooting in Ahoskie, North Carolina.

According to Hertford County Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael Perry, Bearfield Primary, Ahoskie Elementary and Hertford County High School were placed on lockdown around 2 p.m. after a reported shooting in a nearby neighborhood.

Perry said a suspect was not apprehended so police took extra precautions to check each bus.

The lockdowns were lifted at 3:25 p.m., Perry said.

All after-school activities were canceled Tuesday as a precaution.

The Ahoskie Police Department did not confirm the shooting.
