Suspect shoots at child, damages store in Elizabeth City

Police say a child is okay after dodging bullets in a 7-Eleven store.

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — A shooting incident in a convenience store ended with property damage and three suspects on the run. Elizabeth City Police say at 2:36 a.m. on August 4th, a child walked into a 7-Eleven store on South Hughes Boulevard a few blocks north of U.S. Highway 158. Police say while the child was in line, three other people came into the store with guns out. We're told one of those people shot at the child in line as they were running from the store.

The gunshots didn't hurt anyone, but did cause damage in the store. At this time, police have not identified the three suspects and there are no arrests. If you have any information about this incident, contact the Elizabeth City Police Department at 252-335-4321.
