Columbia, SC (WLTX) - A Midlands trooper is the first woman to be named South Carolina Trooper of the Year by the Highway Patrol.
She's Stevi Price, and she's assigned to work in Richland County.
Her bosses say she goes above and beyond on the job each and everyday. Last year, she helped pull a woman from a burning car while on duty.
"It was terrifying," she recalls. "You don't really think about it. You're just thinking about helping the other person. I didn't really care about my well-being at the time. It's nothing that you can train for and it's nothing I ever want to do again, but I would if I had to."
Price has been a trooper for three years.
She is the 50th person to be named Trooper of the Year in our state.
