NEW YORK (WVEC) -- A man whose mother was found dead earlier this month in Virginia Beach has been arrested in New York City.
Officer Mason with the New York Police Department tells 13News Now an officer found 42-year-old James Twyman in a car around 10 a.m. on Park Avenue, near E. 55th St. Wednesday. When the officer ran the car's plates, he found that the car had been reported stolen. Twyman also showed up as someone who was wanted for a probation violation.
Twyman was arrested and charged as a fugitive of other state-federal charge.
Twyman's mother, 72-year-old Olive G. Twyman, was found dead in inside her home located in the 2200 block of Cape Arbor Drive in Virginia Beach on October 9.
Neighbors told 13News Now that Tywman lived with his mother. After her death, her dog -- a Schnauzer -- was missing.
The Daily News said that the dog was with Twyman at the time that the police officer found Twyman in the car.
Twyman is being held at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond.
