Public memorial planned for slain Vancouver K-9 Ike

The Vancouver Police Department will hold a public memorial service for a K-9 named Ike who died after he was stabbed during a struggle with a wanted man.
Ike was buried earlier this month.

VANCOUVER, Wash. – The Vancouver Police Department will hold a public memorial service for a K-9 named Ike who died after he was stabbed during a struggle with a wanted man.

The ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 6 p.m. in the Vancouver Hilton's Heritage Ballroom. The hotel is located at 301 W. 6th St.

Vancouver police spokeswoman Kim Kapp said the department thanks the community for the support and donations following Ike's death. The money was directed into the Vancouver Police K-9 fund.

Ike was laid to rest in a private burial on Sept. 2, at the request of his handler, Officer Jack Anderson.
