NORFOLK, Va. — Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin has ordered that flags be flown at half-staff Monday to honor a firefighter who was fatally shot at a Pennsylvania campaign rally for Republican Donald Trump.
The order reads: "In accordance with the authority vested in me as Governor, I hereby order that the flags of the United States of America and the Commonwealth of Virginia be flown at half-staff on all state and local buildings and grounds in the Commonwealth of Virginia in memory and respect of former Pennsylvania Volunteer Firefighter Chief Corey Comperatore, who tragically lost his life shielding his family on July 13, 2024 in Butler County at a rally for former President Trump. Virginia stands in solidarity with and extends prayers to all Pennsylvanians, especially those who remain in critical condition and their families."
