RICHMOND, Va. — Virginia's State Board of Elections voted unanimously to certify the results of the 2024 election.

Before the state certification, local electoral boards certified their results, which were checked for accuracy by the Virginia Department of Elections.

As part of the certification process, the Board of Elections performed two risk-limiting audits. One was the U.S. Senate race, and the other was a randomly chosen House of Representatives district.

The randomly chosen district was House District 1, which includes the Historic Triangle, Poquoson, the counties of Mathews, James City, and York, as well as parts of central Virginia. The risk limit was set at 10% for both audits.

Election officials said the 10% risk limit was successfully met in the first round of the audits.

Vice President Kamala Harris won Virginia's 13 electoral votes but lost the election to Donald Trump. Official election results are now posted on the Virginia Department of Elections website.
