VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A power outage is affecting voting at two polling places in the Kempsville area of Virginia Beach Tuesday afternoon, the city's registrar confirmed to 13News Now.
A spokesperson for Dominion Energy said a damaged power line had affected 3,800 customers, but 1,700 of them have since had power restored.
The registrar said the outage affected precincts 79, which is Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Singleton Way, and 22, which is Point O' View Elementary School.
Voting hasn't stopped, because the tablets used to run the votes are on battery power, and teams from the city are headed out with power inverters to keep those machines powered, according to the registrar.
The Dominion spokesperson is looking into how long it will take to finish restoring power.
This is a developing story.
