Ben Carson's campaign apparently thinks that the Virginia portion of the Eastern Shore belongs to Maryland.
Carson's camp sent out a tweet Tuesday intended to show solidarity with governors aiming to block Syrian refugees. The tweet featured a map color coding states based on where they stood on the issue, but the map would have appeared unfamiliar to some.
Carson's staffers seem to think that the U.S. annexed a portion of Canada to gain New England at some point.
The map also shows the Eastern Shore of Virginia as siding with Maryland in the refugee debate, despite Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe vowing to leave the Old Dominion's doors open. Perhaps Carson is aware of some plot that Maryland has to absorb the lower portion of the Shore.
Most residents of Accomack and Northampton Counties might just find it interesting that the presidential hopeful knows anything south of Pocomoke exists, as the region is often left off of maps.
Either way, Carson and his staff should probably brush up on their geography.
