NORFOLK, Va. — Senator Bernie Sanders hosted a campaign rally in Virginia Beach on Saturday ahead of Tuesday’s Virginia primary.
Sanders told the crowd, "Our job is to grow the voter turnout in America. I can’t do it alone. Stand up and fight for justice."
Senator Amy Klobuchar originally announced she would host a grassroots event at Elation Brewing Company, located at 5104 Colley Avenue in Norfolk on Saturday afternoon, but those plans changed Friday night. Klobuchar's husband was there instead.
Former Vice President Joe Biden will be in Norfolk for a community event on Sunday, March 1. It will be at Booker T. Washington High School from 5:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Billionaire businessman and former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg's campaign also made a stop at the Webb Center at ODU on Friday, Feb. 28. They're coming as a part of his college campus mobilization effort to encourage college students to vote on Super Tuesday.
These visits come ahead of the Virginia Democratic Primary on Tuesday, March 3.
A recent poll from Monmouth University found that Mike Bloomberg, Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders all had the best chances to win the primary.
Sanders is already considered a frontrunner for the Democratic nominee after winning both the New Hampshire and Nevada primaries and having a neck-and-neck finish with Mayor Pete Buttigieg in Iowa.
