PORTSMOUTH -- Police are investigating the death of a woman in Portsmouth.
Late Monday afternoon, police released the victim's identity. They say 42-year old Michelle McClendon was shot just before 1:30 a.m.
According to police, they found the McClendon in the street in the 500 block of Chautauqua Avenue in Port Norfolk. She'd been shot several times and died at the scene. McClendon lived in the same block where she was killed.
'I was asleep. At first I thought someone was banging at the door and then my Dad was like 'There's gunshots outside.' So I ran outside and that's when I seen her just laid out,' described neighbor Chris Salkey.
No arrests have been made.
