NORFOLK -- Norfolk Police say two men found dead in a house Monday night had been shot.
Authorities were called about a problem at the Sycamore Street home in the Campostella Heights neighborhood around 8:30 p.m. They got inside and found the bodies of 42-year-old Marcel Russell and 46-year-old Christopher Alexander. Police say both men lived at the home.
Joann Whitehurst is shocked at what happened to Russell, her friend since childhood when they grew up in Bowling Park.
'I don't have tears yet. I know they'll be coming, but I'm not there yet. I'm just in shock about this. He didn't deserve this,' she says.
Whitehurst says that she last saw Russell a week ago and that he was talking about going back to school at Tidewater Community College.
She says she doesn't know anything about the house where the two men were killed or why Russell was there.
