CHESAPEAKE--The State Police arrested a Chesapeake woman early Wednesday morning and charged her with Driving Under the Influence.
According to Norfolk police spokesperson, Karen Parker-Chesson, the woman, Nina L. Thomas, 29, of Chesapeake is a Norfolk police officer. Thomas is also charged with refusal to take a blood/breath test and felony assault of a law enforcement officer.
Thomas has been a Norfolk police officer since September of 2010. Parker-Chesson did not know Thomas' employment status as a result of the incident.
Around 1:02 a.m., troopers responded to a call for a vehicle crash on the southbound Portsmouth Boulevard exit ramp from Interstate 664 northbound. . A 2010 Scion had crashed into the guardrail, spun around, and was facing the wrong direction on the exit ramp.
The driver, Thomas, was not injured in the crash.
After police conducted a field sobriety test, they say Thomas became uncooperative and combative.
She was eventually arrested and taken to the Chesapeake City Jail.
