Newport News woman shows box cutter, butt when not given cigarette

A woman in Newport News pulls out a box cutter when a victim didn't have a cigarette on Wednesday.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- A woman in Newport News pulls out a box cutter when a victim didn't have a cigarette on Wednesday.

Police were called at 10 p.m., to the 5900 block of Madison Avenue in reference to an assault.

A 35-year-old female on the scene stated she was standing outside in the 5900 block of Jefferson Avenue assisting a friend who had locked their keys in their car.

While she was standing by her car Shenita Crippen, 43, of the 800 block of 31st Street, approached the woman asking for a cigarette.

Once the woman said she did not have a cigarette, Crippen pulled out a box cutter. She started yelling racial slurs toward the cigarette-less victim before walking away and pulling her pants down showing her butt.

The victim gave a description of Crippen to the police and they were able to identify and locate her.

Crippen was charged with two counts of Assault, Concealed Weapon, and Indecent Exposure.
