WASHINGTON — Two Virginia Congresswomen are working together to improve drinking water in military communities.
Democrat Jennifer McClellan and Republican Jen Kiggans introduced the "PFAS Discharge Prevention Act."
The idea is to install filters and perform more rigorous testing on the waterways in and around Department of Defense facilities.
A new report shows hundreds of bases are contaminating the drinking water on-site and for nearby communities. One of the biggest contributing factors is the "forever chemicals" found in firefighting foam used during emergencies and training exercises.
