NORFOLK, Va. — The USS Laboon (DDG-58) returned home to Naval Station Norfolk on Sunday following a nine-month deployment in the Red Sea.
In October, the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer left Norfolk for U.S. Naval Forces Europe – Africa and U.S. Naval Forces Central Command areas of operations.
There, the ship supported the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in defending the region from Houthi rebels. Officials said the Laboon shot down numerous Houthi drones in the Red Sea and was shot upon by a Houthi anti-ship cruise missile.
The 38 officers, 24 chief petty officers, and 241 enlisted crew members aboard the vessel were reunited with loved ones in Norfolk.
