PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A sailor is continuing to recover in a local hospital, more than a week after a training accident in Florida injured more than 30 sailors and Marines.
The accident was between two Landing Craft Air Cushion hovercraft off the coast of Jacksonville on May 1, and involved personnel assigned to the Norfolk-based USS Wasp Amphibious Ready Group.

Five sailors were hospitalized, with the other service members only suffering minor injuries and were treated on board their ships.
Four of the hospitalized sailors have since been released, but the fifth sailor is being treated at Navy Medical Center Portsmouth. On Thursday afternoon, a Navy spokesperson told 13News Now the sailor "remains in stable condition" at the hospital.
The Navy said an investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
