NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- The Secretary of the Navy, Ray Mabus, has chosen Olympians Katie Ledecky and Simone Biles to be the future USS Enterprise sponsors.
A ship's sponsor is traditionally a female, who participates in all or most of the ship's milestones.
USS Enterprise (CVN80) is currently being built by Newport News Shipbuilding. The ship's funding has been recently discussed by Senator Tim Kaine.
