Newport News Police Department agrees to offer soldiers job interviews after service

The effort guarantees job interviews to veterans and transitioning soldiers after serving in the Army.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Newport News Police Department (NNPD) is partnering with the Army to help soldiers return to civilian life, according to the U.S. Army Partnership for Your Success (PaYS) Program.

In a signing ceremony on Monday, NNPD Chief Steve Drew agreed to offer job interviews to veterans and transitioning soldiers after serving in the Army.  

During the ceremony, LTC Bowe Averill, Commander of the Richmond Recruiting Battalion, awarded Chief Drew a Certificate of Participation.

"We are excited to have Newport News Police Department on board and look forward to providing opportunities for our military community," according to a post from the Army PaYS Program.
