The ribbon cutting took place Tuesday morning, with leadership from Naval Weapons Station Yorktown and Supervisor of Newport News Shipbuilding in attendance.

Sailors wasted no time trying out the equipment at the new pavilion, and it will be available to them all hours of the day, every day of the week.

The space prioritizes safety with rubber tiles that provide a stable base for exercising and features fitness equipment available to use.

The fitness pavilion boasts a solar-powered lighting system, allowing it to be used 24/7. The structure is also hurricane-proof.
