The carbon-fiber submersible, named the Titan, lost contact Sunday night about 425 miles south of St John's, Newfoundland, the Associated Press reports.

A C-130 Hercules aircraft from the Coast Guard Air Station in Elizabeth City is using sonar technology to search for the missing submersible. The C-130 and a Canadian P8 are a part of the search.
There is a time crunch for crews as the vessel had a 96-hour oxygen supply when it was put to sea at 6 a.m. Sunday, meaning that oxygen could run out by approximately 6 a.m. Thursday.
