PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) has given the "all clear" after investigating a bomb threat at Norfolk Naval Shipyard Wednesday afternoon.
A written bomb threat was found on a pier inside the shipyard's industrial area just after noon, according to NNSY Public Affairs Officer Chessie Bray.
Shipyard employees in the immediate area and in nearby buildings were evacuated "as a precautionary measure," she said.
The threat was reported to NCIS, which investigated alongside shipyard law enforcement and declared an "all-clear" around 3 p.m.
Normal operations have now resumed at the shipyard, Bray said.
