Food Lion hit with cyberattack, parent company responds in statement

Parent company, Ahold Delhaize USA, said all of its US stores are open for business as they continue to mitigate the issue.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Food Lion's parent company, Ahold Delhaize USA, recently detected a cybersecurity issue within its U.S. network, it announced Friday. 

The cyberattacks have caused a nationwide payment issue. 

The company said in a statement that once it detected the issue, security teams began investigating with the help of external cybersecurity experts and law enforcement has been notified. 

"Our teams are taking steps to assess and mitigate the issue," the company said. "This includes taking some systems offline to help protect them." 

Ahold Delhaize USA is based in the Netherlands. 

"This issue and subsequent mitigating actions have affected certain Ahold Delhaize USA brands and services including a number of pharmacies and certain e-commerce operations," the company said. 

Ahold Delhaize USA all of its stores in the US are now open for business as they continue to take actions to further protect the systems.
