NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- More than 300 sailors on board the USS Monterey (CG 61) returned to Naval Station Norfolk on Sunday.
The Monterey has spent the last seven months in the Mediterranean and Middle East.

The guided-missile cruiser USS Monterey (CG 61) returns to its homeport, Naval Station Norfolk, May 6, completing a seven-month deployment to the U.S. 5th Fleet and U.S. 6th Fleet areas of operation.
The crew took part in the air strikes against Syria after an alleged chemical attack last month. They fired 30 tomahawk missiles from the Red Sea.
