FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (WVEC/AP) - Army officials say two soldiers were killed in a helicopter crash at a Fort Campbell training area.

Fort Campbell officials say the AH-64E Apache helicopter crashed Friday night. The sprawling Army post straddles the Kentucky-Tennessee line.

The soldiers' names were not immediately released pending notification of their families. Fort Campbell says they were members of the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).

Fort Campbell says the crash occurred during training.

The cause is under investigation.

The crash is the fourth incident involving military aircraft in less than a week. On Wednesday, a pilot with the US Air Force's Thunderbirds died during a training flight near Nellis Air Force Base.

A day earlier, a Marine Corps Harrier crashed shortly after takeoff near the runway at Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti. The pilot ejected to safety.

That same day, a Marine Corps CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter crashed near El Centro, California. All four crew members on board were killed, the Marine Corps said.

Also less than a month ago, two Navy aviators were killed when their Oceana-based F/A 18 Super Hornet crashed off Key West, Florida.
