HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- Police arrested Paris Javon Cooper, 20, in connection with two shootings that took place within days of each other.

Investigators said the first shooting took place around 3:40 a.m. on October 29 in the first block of Derby Drive. A 21-year-old was hurt.

Cooper and another person are accused of going to the 21-year-old's home with a gun and demanding items from him. A fight took place, and officers said Cooper shot the 21-year-old.

He and the person who was with him left the home. Officers still are trying to identify and find that person.

On November 2, several people called emergency dispatchers around 4:50 p.m. about a shooting in the 1900 block of Cunningham Drive.

When officers arrived, they found a man outside the Murphy USA Gas Station who had been shot a number of times. Medics took him to the hospital where he was treated and later released.

Police said Cooper and the man knew each other, but investigators still are looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Officers charged Cooper, whose last known address is the 100 block of Stonehurst Road, with Robbery, Abduction, two counts of Maiming, and four counts of Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony.

Cooper is in the Hampton City Jail.
