YORK COUNTY, Va. — A service K9 with the York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office will son lose his battle with cancer.

Saber, YPSO K9, had emergency surgery last week to remove several tumors on his chest, lungs, and spleen, the YPSO announced on social media.

The tumors indicated that cancer had spread over a large part of Saber's body, and it was decided that the cancer is terminal and treatment options are not viable.

"Saber is a one-of-a-kind dog that has touched our hearts for the past six years and made this community a safer place to live and work," the Sheriff's Office expressed in the post.
