YORK COUNTY, Va. — An investigation is underway in York County after a storage tank carrying thousands of barrels of gasoline caught fire Tuesday, the York County Department of Fire and Life Safety said.
Just before noon, firefighters responded to a reported commercial structure fire at the Plains Marketing Fuel Tank Farm on Goodwin Neck Road. The fire was burning in the vapor seal area of the storage tank, officials said.
Officials said the tank can hold up to 80,000 barrels of gasoline but was luckily only storing 3,000 barrels.
The blaze has been put out but crews are continuing to monitor the incident.
No injuries were reported.
