YORK COUNTY, Va. — Five gang members have pled guilty to federal charges related to the abduction of a woman in Richmond and her murder in York County last year, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Hezekiah Carney, 25, of Norfolk, Donnisha Goodman, 27, of Portsmouth, and Jayquan Jones, 21, of Richmond, pled guilty to using a firearm causing death. Acacia Jackson, 19, of New York, and Jamica Langley, 25, of Richmond, pled guilty to conspiracy to commit kidnapping.
All are accused in the murder of 25-year-old Ty'osha Mitchell after she allegedly tried to leave the Black P. Stone Nation gang, of which they were all members.
Prosecutors say Carney, Langley, Goodman and Jackson went to Mitchell's home in Richmond in the early morning on May 6, 2023. They beat her for a "gang infraction," then returned an hour later with Jones and beat her again. Investigators say the group took Mitchell about an hour east of Richmond to a remote area off Old Williamsburg Road in York county, where they executed her.
According to a DOJ release, "the Medical Examiner found eight gunshot wounds to the head, abdomen, back, buttocks, and legs."
Deputies with the York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office found Mitchell's body around 6:30 a.m. The next day, the Norfolk Police Department spotted the suspects' vehicle and took Jackson, Goodman, and Langley into custody. Carney and Jones were arrested later.
Carney, Goodman and Jones face a minimum of 35 years in prison and up to 45 years in prison when they are sentenced in January.
Jackson and Langley could spend the rest of their lives in prison; their sentencing hearings are set for October and November, respectively.
