YORK COUNTY, Va. — A Williamsburg woman was killed and two more people injured after a two-car crash in York County on Wednesday, Virginia State Police (VSP) confirmed.
According to VSP, it happened around 12:10 p.m. on E. Rochambeau Drive, west of Route 143. Christine Meeske, who was driving an SUV, crashed into another car traveling the same direction. Meeske lost control of her car, and ran into a culvert after driving into a ditch, which caused her car to flip over.
VSP said she and her husband, Richard Meeske, were trapped in the car. Christine died on impact. Richard was extracted from the car, and was flown to Richmond for treatment. Police did not say the status of his injuries.
The driver of the of the other car was injured, but is expected to survive.
Police found that Christine was not wearing her seatbelt when the crash happened.
