VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — People living in Virginia Beach will soon have a chance to cast an early vote in the special election for the City Council District 1 seat.
The seat came open after Rocky Holcomb stepped in as Virginia Beach's interim sheriff when Ken Stolle retired in late September. Election Day is Jan. 9, 2024.
Early voting is in-person and only happens at the Voter Registration and Elections Office at Building 14 of the Virginia Beach Municipal Center at 2449 Princess Anne Road.
District 1 residents can begin casting their special election ballot on Wednesday, Nov. 29. Early voting is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, then 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30 and the final day Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024.
City officials said the Voter Registrar's Office will be closed on Friday, Dec. 22, Monday, Dec. 25, and over the New Year holiday.
Those wanting to vote via mail have until Friday, Dec. 29 to request a mail-in ballot.
District 1 encompasses precincts 22, 23 ,25 ,26 ,51 ,52 ,57 ,68 ,78, 89 and 91.
