NORFOLK, Va. — Flags are flying at half-staff on Saturday in remembrance of a Virginia native who lost his life while serving in the U.S. Marines.
Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced Friday that flags should be flown at half-staff on all state and local buildings and grounds in the Commonwealth from Saturday at sunrise until sunset.
It is to be done "in memory and respect" of Private First Class (PFC) Morris Everett Canady who died on September 24, 1942, in Guadalcanal while serving in the U.S. Marines.
