WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — James City County police are searching for a man wanted in connection with two armed robberies in James City County on Friday.
The armed robberies happened within an hour of each other and 1.7 miles apart.
Sometime after 8 p.m., a man walked into the Citgo at 5443 Richmond Road with a gun, police said.
The man aimed the gun at the clerk and demanded money. A customer inside during the armed robbery ran out of the store.
The man got away with cash.
It was around 8:57 p.m. when the same man entered a 7-Eleven at 4840 Longhill Road. During the robbery, the man hit the clerk on the head with his gun.
In that incident, four customers ran out of the store.
The man was able to get away with cash. The clerk was taken to a hospital. His injuries aren't considered life-threatening.
The suspect is described as a black man, light skin, around 6 feet 2 inches tall with an athletic build. At the time of the robberies, the man was wearing a dark hoodie, dark ski mask and dark denim jeans.
Police said the man is armed with a small handgun and is carrying a book bag.
