Police say no charges expected after pedestrian hit, killed in Williamsburg crash

Police said it's believed that William T. Holland Jr., 68, was also hit by a second vehicle in the 6400 block of Centerville Road.

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — James City County police identified a pedestrian who died after being hit by a car Tuesday night.

The incident happened in the 6400 block of Centerville Road around 5:45 p.m. 

Officials said the pedestrian, 68-year-old William Thomas Holland, Jr. of James City County was taken to Williamsburg Sentara where he later died. 

Police said Holland was wearing dark-colored clothing when he was hit by a 1997 Chevrolet SUV while walking partially in the middle of the road. The driver of the SUV was a 70-year-old James City County resident.

Detectives said they believe Holland was also hit by a 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck, driven by a 41-year-old resident. Both drivers told police they did not see Holland in the road.

According to officers, Holland was not using the available sidewalks when he was hit.

No one else was injured in the incident.

Officials had the road blocked off for about three hours. The crash remains under investigation at this time and no one charges are expected.
