Deadly two-vehicle crash in Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that happened Saturday night in Williamsburg.

Around 8:32 p.m., an SUV collided with a moped in the 1600 block of Richmond Road.

According to VSP, their initial investigations revealed that the driver of a 2004 Ford Explorer was traveling westbound on Richmond Road before she attempted to turn into a McDonald's parking lot and struck 29-year-old moped rider Jose Luis Encarnacion Mora, who was traveling eastbound.

Mora died as a result of the injuries he sustained from the crash. 

The driver of the Ford, 45-year-old Misty May Sites is charged with reckless driving.

However, authorities said alcohol and speed have so far not been attributed as factors that may have led up to the crash.
