Anheuser-Busch investing $6.5 million in Williamsburg brewery

The money will go toward overhauling equipment and other improvements.

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Anheuser-Busch is making a big investment in its Williamsburg brewery.

The company announced Monday that $6.5 million will go toward overhauling equipment and other improvements.

The brewery has been operating since 1972 and employs more than 400 people. Officials said the investment will make the facility more efficient, improve working conditions for the employees, and ensure the facility can maintain its reputation for producing the company’s iconic brands.

“Investing in the communities where our people live and work is part of who we are,” said Brendan Whitworth, CEO of Anheuser-Busch. “At Anheuser-Busch, we’ve been producing high quality, great tasting products for generations, and continued investments in our facilities, like Williamsburg, help to position our business, communities, and industry for continued success.”

Capital infrastructure projects will include overhauling equipment and additional improvements across the facility. Investments will also be made to enhance the capacity and capabilities of the brewery’s warehouse.

A spokesperson told 13News Now the improvements will not bring any additional jobs to the facility but it will improve and "positively impact the over 400 employees that currently work at the Williamsburg brewery."
