Virginia Zoo welcomes two-toed sloths!

Big news! The Virginia Zoo just welcomed two two-toed sloths, Honey and Mervin!

NORFOLK, Va. — The Virginia Zoo just welcomed two two-toed sloths on Friday!

The male and female sloths, Honey and Mervin, are the newest exhibit in the World of Reptiles. Honey is estimated to be 3.5 years old and Mervin is estimated to be 4.5 years old.

The zoo said sloths were usually found in Central and South America in tropical moist lowland and montane forests. Adult sloths average 18 to 33 inches in length and 9 to 19 pounds in weight!

The Zoo's World of Reptiles opened on June 5, 2018. The facility is 13,000 square feet featuring creatures like King Cobras, Magnificent Tree Frog, New Caledonian Giant Gecko, Red-Eyed Tree Frog, Sailfin Dragon, and recently sloths!
