Virginia Zoo to auction naming rights of tiger cubs

Malayan tiger cub born in January and on exhibit at the Virginia Zoo.

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Have you ever wanted to name a Malayan tiger cub? Well, you might get your chance!

The Virginia Zoo is auctioning off the naming rights for the two Malayan tiger cubs born in January.

The online auction began Thursday and will conclude at the Zoo's upcoming fundraiser "Zoo To Do" on May 14. The event will celebrate the Zoo's 115-year history.

The creative cocktail event will feature live music from Strictly Bizzness, up-close animal encounters, unique 'streetsmosphere' performances, bite-sized treats from 20 local restaurants and bars as well as a one-of-a-kind silent auction.

You can participate in the naming auction by clicking here.

Other auction items that will be available only at the event will include hands-on Zoo-centric experiences like becoming a zoo keeper for a day, feeding Dudley the Hoffman's two-toed sloth or appearing on the cover of the Virginia Zoo Review.

The proceeds will go to the "Defining Moments" capital campaign which funds the Zoo's newest expansion, World of Reptiles.
