SUSSEX, Va. — One man died in a crash in Sussex County on Monday morning, the Virginia State Police (VSP) said.
VSP responded to a vehicle crash on Route 40 in Sussex County at 4:15 a.m. According to police, a Cadillac Escalade heading eastbound on Route 40 ran off the road, overturned several times and hit a tree.
When officers arrived they found a man identified as 34-year-old Jarrell R. Thomas and a female passenger ejected from the car.
Thomas died at the scene. The passenger was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
VSP is still investigating the incident.
