Virginia Natural Gas suspending service disconnections due to coronavirus

If you can't pay your gas bill during the coronavirus outbreak, don't panic. Virginia Natural Gas is suspending service disconnections for the time being.

NORFOLK, Va. — Many utilities are suspending service disconnections for people who cannot pay their bills during the coronavirus outbreak.

That includes Virginia Natural Gas, which is the latest company to enact that policy for its residential and commercial customers.

Cox Communications, Dominion Energy and Columbia Gas announced they would suspend service disconnections.

“We understand that the services we provide are critical to our customers’ health and well-being,” said Jim Kibler, president of VNG. “As we face the growing impact of COVID-19 together, we want to ensure that every family and company in our community has the fuel they need to continue heating their homes, cooking their food, taking warm showers and running their businesses.” 

Virginia Natural Gas did not specify how long they wouldn't suspend its shutoffs.
