EMPORIA, Va. — A man is dead after a fatal pedestrian-involved hit-and-run Monday morning in Emporia.
Virginia State Police (VSP) say that a man died while walking westbound on Pleasant Shade Drive (Route 58) in Greensville County, west of Emporia, when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. Police say that the incident happened between 4 and 5:30 a.m.
VSP did not release the victim's name or age.
Witnesses who saw either the pedestrian or the vehicle around the time frame are encouraged to contact troopers at 434-634-4454 or email them at questions@vsp.virginia.gov.
This crash comes after VSP alerted the public that there have been ten fatal pedestrian crashes in the state in just the past two weeks.
