How to recycle a Christmas tree in Hampton Roads

Before all the needles fall off the Christmas tree, here is a breakdown of where to recycle natural trees in Hampton Roads.

Before more needles fall, here is where to recycle fresh pine trees and wreaths in Hampton Roads.

First off, remember to remove all lights, tree stands and decorations including tinsel, ornaments, and wires. Painted trees or those that are covered in fake snow cannot be recycled.

Christmas lights and most decorations do not belong in a curbside recycling container. Consider donating unwanted, but working ornaments, and decorations to a local school or secondhand store instead.
