RICHMOND, Va. — Attorneys for Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax are officially asking prosecutors to open a criminal investigation into the sexual assault allegations against him.
On Wednesday, they sent letters to prosecutors in Massachusetts and North Carolina, asking them to pursue claims made by two women earlier this year.
Dr. Vanessa Tyson said Fairfax sexually assaulted her at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, while Meredith Watson claimed he assaulted her during their time at Duke University.
The letter said Fairfax is confident he would be found innocent and wants the allegations to be resolved.
