MELFA, Va. — Police on Virginia's Eastern Shore are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash.
Virginia State Police said the crash happened around 11:44 p.m. Saturday, at the intersection of Lankford Highway and Main Stree in the Melfa area of Accomack County. Investigators said that 66-year-old Peter Lancho of Greenbackville was walking in the southbound lanes of Lankford Highway when he was hit by an unknown, dark-colored sedan.
Lancho died immediately. The sedan did not stop and continued driving southbound on Lankford Highway.
Witnesses are working with police in an attempt to identify the suspect's vehicle.
State Police said the the crash remains under investigation.
