CHINCOTEAGUE, Va. (Delmarva Now) -- A new water park on Chincoteague has been welcoming visitors for a couple of weeks now, but it will have its grand opening celebration Friday, June 29, at 3 p.m.
The event at Maui Jack's is open to the public and will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony by local dignitaries and representatives from Blue Water Development, owners of the water park and the adjacent Chincoteague Island KOA campground.
Additionally, a raffle will be held, with prizes including a four-pack of day passes to the water park and a bag of Maui Jack's "swag," according to a press release.
Discounted vouchers for a future water park visit will be offered to all attendees.
Tours offering close-up looks at the water park will be offered at the celebration.
The water park includes features such as the Lazy River, North Shore Beach, Maui Island cabanas and four waterslides (the Snakes — Typhoon, Pipeline, and Diamondhead — and the Banzai Racers).
Keko's Bar and Grill, a new restaurant offering food and drinks at the water park, will provide appetizers and beverages, including a complimentary signature drink, at the grand opening.
The water park is at 6742 Maddox Boulevard on Chincoteague.
The park had a soft opening over Memorial Day Weekend and is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. It offers full-day, late-day and 3-day passes; group pricing for birthday parties, reunions and retreats; and special pricing for guests staying at the nearby Chincoteague Island KOA, Fairfield Inn & Suites Chincoteague Island, or Chesapeake Bay KOA Resort & Beach Club.
