ACCOMACK COUNTY, Va. — Two men were arrested Thursday after leading deputies on a high-speed chase through Virginia's Eastern Shore.
It all started with a series of armed robberies, starting at around 4:35 a.m., according to the Accomack County Sheriff's Office.
Over the course of four hours, deputies said the suspects robbed the Royal Farms in Cape Charles, the Hampton Inn & Suites in Exmore, the Corner Marts in Nelonia and Temperanceville and the Pocomoke Advance Auto Parts.
Shortly after deputies determined all five robberies were by the same men, they began canvasing Northampton County, Accomack County and Worcester County for the car involved.
Around 9:04 a.m., deputies in Accomack County tried to pull the suspects over, but they just kept driving. The chase reached speeds up to 120 miles per hour.
It ended in Exmore, when the driver lost control and crashed into two other cars. Both suspects tried to run away, but were still arrested. The driver of the car was also treated for minor injuries.
The suspects, 28-year-old Christopher Orbeta from Chesapeake, and 31-year-old Brandon Gibson from Norfolk were arrested and charged with armed robbery.
Gibson also faces charges for eluding police and assaulting a law enforcement officer.
