ACCOMACK COUNTY, Va. — Two people from Florida are dead after they crashed on Lankford Highway in Accomack County Tuesday night, Virginia State Police confirmed.
According to VSP, it happened around 4:16 p.m. on 16239 Lankford Highway in Nelsonia. A car driving northbound drove into the southbound lanes and crashed into a Freightliner box truck.
One of the passengers in the car, the 17-year-old daughter of the driver, died upon impact, VSP said. The driver of the car, 69-year-old Augusto Aguilar, was brought to Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital, where they later died.
The other passenger in the car, Maria Aguilar, was brought to Tidal Health Hospital in Salisbury, Maryland with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening. VSP said she is the wife of Augusto and the mother of the 17-year-old.
The driver of the Freightliner, 63-year-old Ervin Mizriky, was brought to Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital, and is also in stable condition, VSP said.
Both north and southbound lanes of Lankford Highway were shut down.
