NORFOLK, Va. — The Commonwealth of Virginia is taking steps to remember the victims of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks this Wednesday.
Flags are flying at half-staff on Wednesday in remembrance of nearly 3,000 lives lost in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, and in remembrance of the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the rescue mission.
Governor Glenn Youngkin announced Tuesday that flags should be flown at half-staff on all state and local buildings and grounds from Wednesday at sunrise until sunset.
Gov. Youngkin said it is an opportunity to "pause and reflect on the heroism and sacrifice made by so many."
In the announcement, Gov. Youngkin also encourages Virginians to display the flag of the United States of America on this day.
