Missing Surry County woman found safe, VSP says

Police said Catherlene Goodman Pittman's has been found safe.

SURRY, Va. — Virginia State Police (VSP) said a Surry County woman who was believed to have been abducted has been found safe on Monday morning.

A Critically Missing Adult Alert -- also known as an Ashanti Alert -- was issued for 66-year-old Catherlene Goodman Pittman. She was last seen just before 4 a.m. Sunday in the area of 3300 Hog Island Road in Surry. She is described as 4'11" tall, weighs about 140 pounds, and has brown eyes and black hair.

VSP believed she was with 53-year-old Franklin Merrell Nichols. Nichols is 5'6" tall and weighs about 150 pounds. He has blue eyes and brown hair and may be wearing a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans.

They may be traveling in a white Toyota Camry with unknown California license plates.

Police said Pittman's disappearance poses a credible threat to her health and safety.
