CHESTER, Va. — A suspect has been arrested in connection to the shooting of a Virginia State University officer,
Very early Sunday, a Virginia State University officer, Bruce Foster, was responding to a disturbance near campus when he was shot. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Chesterfield County Police say that he is still hospitalized, but in stable condition at this time.
On Tuesday, police with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Washington Field Division, police found and arrested 21-year-old Deonta Blount in connection to the shooting.
Blount of Timsberry Circle has been charged with aggravated malicious wounding of a law enforcement officer and use of a firearm in the commission of the aggravated malicious wounding of a law enforcement officer.
They are being held at the Chesterfield County Jail without bond.
